Stars and Stripes Veteran's Program in Los Angeles

Our Veterans Program

People who served, or who run toward emergencies for a living, rarely ask for help easily. You were trained to handle things, keep moving and look after everyone else first. When alcohol or drugs start doing the handling, saying so out loud can feel like failing. It isn’t. Cliffside West Los Angeles offers veterans drug rehab in Los Angeles through Stars & Stripes, our program for veterans and first responders, in a small setting of two homes with six beds apiece.

Ask admissions anything at (877) 621-5810. A confidential call doesn’t commit you to treatment.

Veterans Drug Rehab in Los Angeles: What Stars & Stripes Offers

substance use disorder, often alongside trauma or PTSD. It brings trauma-informed care into every stage of treatment, from detox through residential care, with staff who know military and first responder work firsthand or through specialized training.

  • Staff who understand the life. You won’t spend your first week explaining what a deployment or a bad call does to a person.
  • Peers who’ve been there. You’ll be surrounded by a brotherhood and sisterhood of people who’ve worn a uniform or answered the call, so you’re not the only one in the room who gets it.
  • Care that accounts for trauma. Your team understands how trauma affects sleep, stress and trust, and plans treatment around that instead of ignoring it.
  • A handoff that keeps going. At discharge, your team coordinates with the VA and veteran-focused organizations so support continues after you leave.

When PTSD and Substance Use Show Up Together

PTSD and substance use often travel together. Alcohol or pills can dull nightmares, hypervigilance and intrusive memories for a while, then make all of it worse. That’s why every patient here meets weekly, at minimum, with a psychiatrist who focuses on addiction medicine, so trauma symptoms and substance use are treated as connected problems. Our dual diagnosis page explains that approach in more depth.

Individual therapy and groups then give you ways to carry what you’ve seen without needing a substance to do it.

First Responder Addiction Treatment in Los Angeles

Police officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics and dispatchers absorb things most people never see, sometimes several times in a single shift. Add rotating schedules, broken sleep and a culture where needing help can feel like a liability, and a few drinks after shift or something to fall asleep can turn into a routine quickly.

Stars & Stripes treats first responders with the same trauma-informed approach. Many on your team know the job through experience or training, and the people beside you in treatment understand the pressure that comes with it.

Using VA Community Care Through TriWest

Cliffside West LA is an in-network TriWest provider, which means eligible veterans may be able to receive treatment here through VA Community Care, the VA’s network of outside providers. Eligibility and approval are decided by the VA, so admissions will check your benefits and explain the steps before you make a decision.

First responders usually use their own health plans. We’re in network with Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna and ComPsych, and other plans may be accepted out of network. Private pay is also available.

Call (877) 621-5810 to see what your VA benefits or health plan may cover.
