What Sets Cliffside West LA Apart

Small, Intimate Settings

Two homes, six beds each. With so few patients, your team can change your plan quickly when something shifts.

Welcome to All

Complex situations are welcome. Many patients arrive with past relapses, several earlier treatment stays, co-occurring psychiatric or medical conditions, or complicated medication needs.

Multiple Levels of Care

One continuous path. Detox flows directly into residential care, discharge planning begins as soon as you arrive, and Discovery 365 plus our alumni program keep you connected afterward.

How Care Is Structured

Many stays begin with medical detox, where nurses provide round-the-clock care, overseen by addiction medicine physicians. Residential treatment follows, with individual therapy, groups and weekly psychiatric care. When depression, anxiety or trauma are involved, dual diagnosis care treats them together with substance use.

After residential care, your case manager arranges step-down care, such as outpatient treatment, through a provider network built over two decades on the Westside, or with providers near your home.

Addiction Treatment in Los Angeles for Alcohol and Drugs

Because alcohol is legal and everywhere, it’s hard to tell when drinking has crossed a line. Over time it affects sleep, mood, the liver and relationships. For people who drink heavily every day, quitting abruptly can bring on dangerous withdrawal, so care starts with supervised detox when needed. Therapy then looks at what drinking has been doing for you.
Cocaine’s high is short and intense, which often leads to using again and again in one night. Regular use strains the heart and can bring anxiety, paranoia and poor sleep. Coming off cocaine is rarely dangerous to the body, but the crash afterward, with exhaustion, low mood and cravings, is where many people get stuck. Steady routines, therapy and people around you help you get through it.
Methamphetamine is a powerful stimulant that can keep people awake for days. Long-term use can affect memory, mood and heart health, and some people experience paranoia. Early recovery often brings deep fatigue and a flat mood that can linger for weeks. Your psychiatrist and therapist watch closely during that period while you rebuild sleep, eating and daily routines.
Prescribed or bought on the street, opioids change how the brain handles pain and reward. Tolerance builds quickly, so many people end up using just to feel normal. Physicians manage aches, sweating, stomach upset and restlessness during detox, and medication-assisted treatment (MAT) may help with cravings afterward. In therapy, you work on what kept the cycle going.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid many times stronger than heroin. It now shows up in much of the street drug supply and in counterfeit pills, often without the person knowing, which is why overdose risk is so high. Care follows the same supervised path as other opioids and continues into residential treatment, because ongoing care is one of the best protections against returning to use.
Some people turn to heroin after prescription painkillers become harder to get. Street heroin is often mixed with fentanyl, so its strength can change from one use to the next. Over time it can harm the heart, lungs and veins and take over daily life. Treatment moves from supervised withdrawal into residential care and a plan for what comes after.
Prescription drug addiction often begins with a legitimate prescription. Opioid painkillers carry the same risks as other opioids. Sedatives such as benzodiazepines, often prescribed for anxiety or sleep, can cause physical dependence even at prescribed doses, and stopping them abruptly can lead to seizures. They’re usually tapered slowly under medical supervision, and your team reviews any medications you still need for other health conditions.
